Michael Labrador
Heart Hospital of Austin
Heart Hospital of Austin has named Michael Labrador as its new chief operating officer. Labrador most recently served as vice president of operations and ethics and compliance officer at HCA Florida Englewood Hospital, a 100-bed acute care facility. In that role, he led the hospital’s cardiovascular and emergency service lines, including overseeing a $10-million expansion and renovation project that more than doubled the size of the emergency department. Prior to his time at HCA Florida Englewood Hospital, Labrador was the assistant administrator of LewisGale Medical Center, a 505-bed acute care facility in Salem, Va.
Marco Lozano
Laredo Medical Center
Marco A. Lozano, FACHE, has been appointed chief operating officer of Laredo Medical Center. He joined LMC in 2021 as an assistant administrator and was promoted in 2022 to assistant chief executive officer. During his tenure at LMC, Lozano has served as the lead project executive for multiple strategic imperatives, including the re-establishment of the hospital’s open heart program, opening of four new primary care clinics, renovation of the cath lab and the opening of a cardiac rehabilitation program. Lozano joined the South Texas Health System in 2018 as the director of outpatient clinics in the Rio Grande Valley.
Christina Mathis
Medical City Frisco
Christina Mathis has been named chief executive officer for Medical City Frisco, a campus of Medical City Plano. Since 2021, Mathis has served as the chief operating officer for Medical City Plano, where she had direct oversight of many primary services, including surgery, trauma, burn, imaging and more. She was also responsible for campus improvement projects and facility operations, contributing significantly to strategy, governance and culture. Mathis previously served as COO, ethics and compliance officer and chief staffing officer at HCA Healthcare’s St. David’s Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown.
Emma Maria Montes-Ewing
South Texas Health System McAllen
South Texas Health System McAllen has announced the appointment of Emma Maria Montes-Ewing as its chief executive officer, effective January 2, 2024. In her role, Montes-Ewing will be responsible for leading the facility’s 1,100-plus staff members in the delivery of quality, compassionate care to patients in the Rio Grande Valley. Montes-Ewing, who brings more than 20 years of health care leadership experience, becomes the first Latina CEO at South Texas Health System’s largest acute care facility. Throughout her career, she has helped build high-performing teams, develop service lines, increase revenue in competitive markets and build healthy organizational cultures.
Kevin Parsley
CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System
Beaumont-based CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System has named Kevin Parsley chief operating officer. Parsley has served Irving-based CHRISTUS Health for 28 years, most recently serving the Southeast Texas Health System as vice president of provider strategy, integration and business development. He has served in multiple leadership positions for the health system, including roles in strategic planning, business development, operations, managed care and physician engagement, and has been instrumental in leading some of the system’s most important growth projects, including the orthopedic specialty center, two emergency hospitals, a freestanding cancer center as well as physician network development and recruitment.
Casey Robertson
CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System
CHRISTUS Health has appointed Casey Robertson as the new president and CEO of the CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System. Robertson comes to Shreveport from the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System in Longview, Tex., where he spent 18 months as chief operating officer. Robertson brings nearly 20 years of health care administration, including more than 10 years at the CEO level. Prior to joining CHRISTUS, he was CEO of Sadiant Inc., a Fort Worth-based clinical on-demand organization. His previous roles included CEO at Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview and Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin.
Alejandro Romero
Del Sol Medical Center
Alejandro Romero has been named the new chief operating officer of El Paso-based Del Sol Medical Center. Romero assumed the role in October. He previously served as CEO of HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital in Kissimmee. Del Sol Medical Center is an affiliate of HCA Healthcare, based in Nashville, Tenn.
Kevin Stevenson, DHA, MBA, FACHE
Ascension Providence
Kevin Stevenson, DHA, MBA, FACHE has been named chief operating officer of Ascension Providence. As COO, Dr. Stevenson will be responsible for overall operational efficiencies, financial stewardship and growth initiatives as well as continued oversight of Surgical Services, service lines and ancillary departments. Most recently, Dr. Stevenson served as our director of strategic operations and has held a number of executive roles in hospitals and health systems in Texas, Kentucky, Nebraska and Louisiana, with additional leadership roles in physician networks, accountable care organizations and generic pharmaceutical strategy.
