Texas hospitals celebrated COVID-19 Heroes Day and Memorial Day on March 4, marking the first annual observance of this day of reflection and recognition. The establishment of COVID-19 Heroes and Memorial Day was made possible through legislation supported by the Texas Hospital Association, with Rep. Bobby Guerra leading the initiative. The day was dedicated to honoring the individuals who lost their lives to COVID-19 and recognizing the resilience and dedication of health care workers, first responders and essential workers who risked their lives to keep others safe.

Texas hospitals were encouraged to participate in various activities to commemorate the day, including staff and community events, tribute videos, special signage, and social media posts. The aim was to ensure that the sacrifices and contributions of those involved in the pandemic response were duly recognized and remembered.

Lives lost, lives saved, and the tireless efforts of those who worked tirelessly to combat the virus were all remembered on this day. As Texas hospitals reflected on the past and paid tribute to the heroes and victims of the pandemic, they also looked toward the future, determined to honor the memories and lessons learned from this unprecedented experience.
