Texas hospitals are urging the public to stay vigilant about respiratory illnesses following nationwide reports of pediatric hospital bed shortages due to this season’s rapid spread of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza. Texas pediatric hospital beds are currently 88% occupied, according to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Texas Hospitals Unite Against Workplace Violence

The Texas Hospital Association and the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council have issued a position on health care workplace violence to inform communities across the state that all Texas hospitals stand united on this critical issue. April is Workplace Violence Awareness Month, and, in alignment with the American Hospital Association, Texas hospitals will celebrate June 3 as #HAVHope Day, a national day of awareness intended to highlight how organizations and communities can come together to combat violence. Texas hospitals have adopted the following statement against health care workplace violence.

Texas’ Medicaid 1115 Waiver Extension Reinstated

Today, THA President and CEO John Hawkins issued the following statement regarding today’s notice that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is withdrawing its rescission of the Texas 1115 Medicaid waiver extension. CMS indicates in today’s letter that continuing to litigate the issue is not an effective use of the federal government’s limited resources.
