Beginning her career in oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center nearly 30 years ago, Cornelson served in various health care leadership roles – most recently as the director of nursing for Integral Care in Austin.

Cornelson spent 10 years as a system nursing practice leader for clinical standards and regulations at Ascension Texas, where she had regional oversight of nursing practice and integrated evidence-based care into policy and workflow processes. There, Cornelson coordinated Magnet/Pathway to Excellence® programs, modernized interdisciplinary professional governance structures and launched a Zero Suicide initiative, which paved the way for safer suicide care throughout the system.

Once the senior director for education development at THA, Cornelson has returned to THA as an exciting addition to the THA clinical team.
