Charu Sharma serves as the Director of Quality and Patient Safety at Scottish Rite Hospital, where she leads system-wide initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes, ensure regulatory compliance, elevate the patient experience, and foster a robust culture of safety. With over 18 years of experience in healthcare quality management, Charu provides strategic oversight for data-driven quality and process improvement initiatives, leveraging evidence-based practices to reduce variation, improve outcomes, and drive operational efficiency.

She oversees the patient safety program and has implemented a standardized approach to safety event investigations and grievance reviews. Her leadership in introducing an electronic event reporting system significantly increased event reporting and facilitated impactful improvement initiatives. Charu has also spearheaded the development of a strong culture of safety program, promoting psychological safety through hospital-wide error prevention training, patient safety rounding, and the Great Catch Award. She established a dedicated learning platform for nurses through the implementation of Nursing Morbidity and Mortality Conferences.

Charu has successfully managed regulatory readiness efforts with a strong focus on The Joint Commission (TJC) compliance and operational excellence. Her work ensures alignment with accreditation standards and continuous performance improvement across the organization.

She is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Charu holds dual master’s degrees—one in Community Resource Management from Delhi University in India and another in Health Administration from the University of Memphis in Tennessee. She is an active member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality.
