Hospital Conditions of Participation (CoPs) 2026

This eleven-part online webinar series will review key sections of the CMS Hospital Conditions of Participation (CoP) manual, Appendix A. It’s designed to help hospital staff understand and comply with federal regulations, including those required for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. Topics include infection control, QAPI, medical staff, nursing services, patient rights, and more. The program will also cover updates from 2020 through 2025, including areas where interpretive guidelines and survey procedures are still pending.

Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Conditions of Participation: Ensuring Compliance 2026

This ten-part webinar series will guide CAHs through the CMS Conditions of Participation (CoP) found in Appendix W, with special focus on commonly cited areas like Patient Rights. Although the CAH manual lacks a dedicated Patient Rights section, hospitals are still required to ensure a safe environment and uphold all patient rights. The series will address recent regulatory changes, including infection control, QAPI, and discharge planning, as well as areas with missing interpretive guidelines. It also covers key compliance topics such as nursing care plans, medication management, informed consent, and required policies and procedures.

EMTALA 2026

This two-part webinar series will review the CMS Conditions of Participation and Interpretive Guidelines related to EMTALA, which apply to hospitals with emergency departments and those with specialized capabilities. It will cover all twelve EMTALA tag numbers, plus additional guidance on on-call physicians and community care plans. The program will also discuss a landmark case that expanded hospital and practitioner liability under EMTALA. With ongoing legislation, hospitals can expect increased scrutiny, fines, and deficiencies related to EMTALA compliance.
