Entrepreneur, former star quarterback for the Washington Redskins

Joe Theismann is an entrepreneur and the former star quarterback for the Washington Redskins. He spent the last two decades working for ESPN on their NFL broadcast and the NFL Network. The former Washington Redskins quarterback joined ESPN in April 1988, reuniting with play-by-play voice, Mike Patrick. Theismann joined ESPN after spending two seasons as an NFL analyst for CBS Sports. A 12-year NFL veteran, Theismann played in 163 consecutive games from 1974-1985 and holds Redskins’ records for passing yardage (25,206), completions (2.044) and attempts (3,602). A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Theismann led Washington to a 27-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII.

Since its launch in 2009, The Tribune has won international acclaim and numerous honors, including a Peabody Award, thirteen national Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association and three general excellence awards from the Online News Association. Previously Evan spent nearly 18 years at Texas Monthly, including eight years as Editor and a year as President and Editor-in-Chief.

Louis Bratton represents victims and families in personal injury and wrongful death claims. Llamas is a shareholder in Winstead's Austin office, and is a member of the firm’s Healthcare Industry Group as well as the Corporate Securities/Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group. Her practice focuses on the intersection of health care and technology, advising providers, hospitals and businesses on healthcare information technology, cybersecurity, and general healthcare transactions and regulatory compliance. Cameron Duncan, J.D., has over 5 years of experience as a health care attorney, which includes litigating health care fraud cases and advising clients on a variety of regulatory matters, Medicaid, Medicare, the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, joint ventures, compliance, facility licensure and accreditation, EMTALA, HIPAA, and other operational issues. He began his legal career in the Civil Medicaid Fraud Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Duncan joined THA from Emergency Service Partners, an emergency physician group serving hospitals across Texas. He is a graduate of Fordham University and Washington & Lee University School of Law.

Michael Fischer

Michael Fischer, M.D.

Medical Epidemiologist, Texas Department of State Health Services

Michael Fischer, M.D., MPH & TM has worked for the Texas Department of State Health Services for over 5 years in the Infectious Disease Control Unit and has recently taken-on the role of Antibiotic Stewardship Expert for the Health Care Safety Group of IDCU, DSHS. Prior to taking on this role, Fischer served Texas as the epidemiologist and subject matter expert for prion disease surveillance. Fischer also served as a medical epidemiologist during outbreaks involving high-consequence pathogens (West Africa Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in 2014) and events with elevated public concern (travel-related Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV)), providing consults to physicians, infection control practitioners, and health care facilities on appropriateness of testing, test results, prevention and control measures, and mechanisms of disease transmission.

Cesar Lopez, J.D., is the Texas Hospital Association’s associate general counsel, and graduate of Trinity University, Albany Law School, and the University of Washington School of Law Health Law LL.M. program. Prior to joining THA, Lopez gained experience as a litigator, health law lecturer for Texas A&M, UT-PA (now UT-RGV), and the University of Washington, and through various healthcare legal and policy positions in Texas and Washington State. Lopez has a strong connection to health care and is excited to help create a positive influence on healthcare policy, law, and best practices by advancing THA’s mission, vision and goals.

Robert Nelson, a certified association executive and principal at Nelson Strategic Consulting, works with Boards and high-powered CEOs in a not-for-profit setting to guide and facilitate the development of strategic solutions to complex organizational and global grand challenges for national as well as international organizations. As a former association chief executive officer for almost two decades, Nelson is adept at designing governance systems and an engaging Board trainer with an understanding of the importance of developing high performing boards and practical, strategic solutions that work within the culture of an organization and are aligned with the organization’s capacity potential. His governance work often focuses on working with non-profit CEOs and Boards to create strategic thinking boards.
