JEFF TURNER, MSHA, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, MOORE COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT

Since 2008, Jeff Turner has led Moore County Hospital District with vision, innovation and an unwavering commitment to rural health care. Under his leadership, MCHD has earned national recognition as a CMS 5-Star Hospital and a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital, with Top 10 rankings in clinical quality.

Turner spearheaded the renovations of a $40 million patient care addition and renovation for the hospital, revitalized the Moore County Health Foundation – growing its assets from $5,000 to $2.9 million – and forged educational partnerships to strengthen the rural nursing workforce. His recruitment of key specialists, expansion of clinics and dedication to excellence have elevated care across the Texas Panhandle.

His commitment to excellence has led to numerous accolades, including multiple Press-Ganey Guardian of Excellence Awards for Employee Engagement and recognition of MCHD’s Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a top 5% facility in Texas by U.S. News & World Report.

Turner’s leadership extends far beyond the hospital walls. He has served in numerous statewide and national roles, chaired multiple health care boards and actively contributed to his community through service with local colleges, civic organizations and non-profits.

In recognition of his creative and innovative management achievements, commitment to community and transformative leadership in rural health care, Jeff Turner is honored as this year’s Pioneer Award recipient.

Created by THA’s Rural Hospital Constituency Council, the Pioneer Award honors a rural hospital administrator or CEO who demonstrates creative and innovative leadership in the organization and community he or she serves.

Every year since 2004, THA has honored one rural hospital CEO with the Pioneer Award. Each recipient has set a standard of excellence in leadership and community service that exemplifies THA’s commitment to the health care industry.
