As states are fully re-opening and the federal and state legislation changing daily, the speaker will discuss reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence and medical inquiries in the time of COVID-19. She will also address the latest updates on what is required for workplace safety related to COVID-19, including how the COVID-19 vaccine impacts such safety protocol. And finally, she will discuss best practices for employers fully re-opening during COVID-19.

A board-certified employment lawyer, Soña Ramirez has represented companies in all aspects of employment law for over 15 years. She manages litigation for a number of national and Texas-based employers in a wide-range of industries that include manufacturing, construction, retail, health care, restaurants and oil and gas. Ramirez’s experience includes defending companies in discrimination/retaliation administrative charges and lawsuits, worker's compensation retaliation lawsuits, governmental investigation and audits, unemployment hearings, wage and hour matters, and trade secret and non-compete litigation. Because of her extensive experience, she is particularly adept at helping clients avoid litigation and negotiating early settlement of cases. Ramirez, however, will vigorously defend companies through trial and arbitration.
