Almost 70 percent of adult Texans don’t receive recommended vaccinations. In fact, many believe that immunizations are just for children.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and Texas hospitals have an opportunity to highlight the importance of immunization for Texans of all ages and, ultimately, increase the number of Texans with up-to-date immunizations.
Throughout August, the Texas Hospital Association, in collaboration with the National Public Health Information Coalition and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is leading a social media campaign to increase vaccine awareness.
With pre-prepared posts for each week of the month, all Texas hospitals are encouraged to download the posts and schedule them for use on their social networks.
Each week focuses on a different population and their unique vaccination needs:
- July 31-Aug. 6: Babies and Young Children
- Aug. 7-13: Pregnant Women
- Aug. 14-20: Adults
- Aug. 21-27: Preteens/Teens
