Zika is a mosquito-borne virus. No cases of Zika have been diagnosed in the U.S., although travelers returning to the U.S. from South America have been infected. The World Health Organization predicts the mosquitoes carrying the virus will eventually reach the U.S. Zika is associated with microcephaly and is therefore particularly harmful for pregnant women and developing fetuses.
