 HealthShare Names New President/CEO

AUSTIN (April 14, 2008) – Jim Dixon has been named president and chief executive officer of HealthShare, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Austin-based Texas Hospital Association, effective April 14.
Dixon comes to HealthShare from Louisiana, where he served as the Gulf Coast director for Amerinet and as the liaison for SupportHealth, a five-state strategic marketing affiliate. Amerinet serves as the sole endorsed group purchasing organization for the state hospital associations of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Dixon has an extensive background in health care operations and group purchasing.
“Jim has the sales and marketing expertise to take HealthShare to the next level, while enhancing the services and savings provided to Texas hospitals,” said Dan Stultz, M.D., FACP, FACHE, president/CEO of THA. “We are delighted to have someone of his caliber join our leadership team.”
Dixon is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and holds a master’s degree in business from Louisiana State University.
HealthShare, a wholly owned subsidiary of THA, provides products and services to Texas hospitals and health systems through its endorsement of companies. HealthShare's products and services – administrative, fiscal, human resources, equipment and environmental, and quality/productivity improvement – help member hospitals avoid unnecessary costs, generate new sources of income, reduce operating and capital expenses, improve management, increase productivity, develop staff resources and apply new strategies. In addition, HealthShare provides overall management of the THA Retirement Plan and offers a quality line of insurance products.

Founded in 1930, the Texas Hospital Association is the leadership organization and principal advocate for the state’s hospitals and health care systems. Based in Austin, THA enhances its members’ abilities to improve accessibility, quality and cost-effectiveness of health care for all Texans. One of the largest hospital associations in the country, THA represents more than 85 percent of the state’s hospitals and health care systems, which employ some 340,000 health care professionals statewide.
