Checkley Joins Texas Hospital Association

AUSTIN (January 18, 2008) – John Checkley joined the staff of the Texas Hospital Association as senior vice president of member relations, effective Jan. 3. In his new position, Checkley will oversee the Member Relations division. One of his primary responsibilities will be to ensure coordination among THA, its subsidiary companies and affiliated organizations to better serve members and meet their needs.

Most recently, Checkley was a trainer/consultant for the Professional Development Center at The University of Texas-Austin and director of operations for CC & Associates, which produces professional development programs. Prior to moving to Austin, he worked for the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development in Alexandria, Va., for more than 17 years, where he led teams of writers, producers and project managers to develop the organization’s multi-media-based professional development programs, products and services.

“John brings a breadth of experience to this new position. His association experience plus his expertise in professional development and project management will help THA better serve members’ needs,” said Dan Stultz, M.D., FACP, FACHE.

Founded in 1930, the Texas Hospital Association is the leadership organization and principal advocate for the state’s hospitals and health care systems. Based in Austin, THA enhances its members’ abilities to improve accessibility, quality and cost-effectiveness of health care for all Texans. One of the largest hospital
associations in the country, THA represents more than 85 percent of the state’s hospitals and health care systems, which employ some 340,000 health care professionals statewide.
