Affordable, accessible health insurance coverage is critical for Texans’ health and quality of life. Federal health care reform will provide coverage for 4.1 million currently uninsured Texans, and make sweeping changes to the insurance industry. Interim Studies

Several state committees are looking how health care reform will impact Texas. Interim studies address budget issues, including Medicaid, as well as other issues, such as uncompensated trauma funding and charity care requirements. In addition, the Texas Department of Insurance will be under sunset review in 2011.
