CMS Approves Medicaid Waiver

On Dec. 12, 2011, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved the state’s Medicaid 1115 waiver, which will protect vital federal hospital funding as Medicaid managed care is rolled out across the state. In addition, the waiver creates the framework to transform the delivery of health care services to Medicaid clients.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission issued a press release on Dec. 12, and THA issued a statement regarding the announcement.

In its letter of approval, CMS outlines the parameters of the waiver, and provides specific terms and conditions.

THA has prepared an outline of waiver issues of particular interest to hospitals.
