Texas Hospital Association

Joining Forces Program

As of November 2008, the Texas Hospital Association has partnered with more than a dozen national organizations in a sweeping effort to educate health care professionals and others within communities about the unique health-related problems faced by returning veterans.

Health care professionals are encouraged to take part in a four-part educational video series, available at
www.joiningforcesonline.org. The series was developed by HealthPartners Institute of Medical Education in Minnesota and now is offered nationally through the support of the American Hospital Association, the Veteran’s Health Administration, the American Medical Association, the National Council of Churches and many others.

While the Joining Forces curricula originally was intended for physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, it is open to anyone with an interest in learning about the health care issues of returning military. The series also can be used to meet continuing education requirements!
