HITECH Act Provisions Affecting Privacy and Security

Format: CD-ROM (includes presentation materials)
Estimated Duration: 60 minutes
Price: $195

OVERVIEW

The new HITECH Act widens the scope of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy and security rules by:

  • Expanding the reach of the business associate provisions,
  • Creating stricter privacy requirements and enforcement, and
  • Imposing a new notification requirement in the case of an unlawful disclosure of personal health information.

Regulators have been issuing, and will continue to issue, guidance on various aspects of the HITECH Act. This Webinar, originally recorded on Dec. 10, 2009, addresses what hospitals should expect in the upcoming regulations, and how to implement current rules.
