OVERVIEW

As hospitals respond clinically to the H1N1 flu pandemic, they also are being confronted with issues relating to staffing and resource allocation. FACULTY

David B. Jordan, senior associate with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, joined the Houston location of Fulbright & Jaworski in 2001. His practice blends litigation, with a counseling and transactional practice, all related to labor and employment issues. His comprehensive litigation practice focuses on a breadth of labor and employment matters. He represents employers in federal and state court and before administrative agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Texas Workforce Commission and National Labor Relations Board.

Yvonne Karen Puig is a partner with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP. She practices exclusively in the health care area, and represents hospitals, HMOs, medical schools and other institutional health care providers. She has extensive experience in a variety of health law regulatory matters, including, but not limited to, EMTALA, credentialing, due process hearings and Joint Commission accreditation and compliance. Her trial experience includes complex litigation, such as representation of hospital systems, manufacturers and sellers of medical devices, and commercial litigation involving the health industry.

Aashish Kiran Shah, M.D., is an associate with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP. He joined the Houston office in 2008. As an associate, he works with the firm’s health care practice group. He is also the associate director of public health preparedness at The University of Texas School of Public Health Center for Biosecurity and Public Health Preparedness.

Matthew T. Wall, J.D., is associate general counsel with the Texas Hospital Association in Austin. Wall joined THA in August 1986. As one of three in-house attorneys, his responsibilities include legislative and regulatory advocacy, advising member hospitals on health law issues, and conducting health law research.
