OVERVIEW
This webinar, originally recorded on Aug. 26, 2010, will provide a strategic view of hospital grant-seeking geared towards hospital decision-makers. After an introduction to current giving statistics and a basic overview of the process, participants will find out what staff roles are needed and the potential ROI for money and time spent on grant-seeking. The program will outline how to initiate the process and will differentiate between using in-house and outsourced grant writers, including what to look for in a grant writer. The program also covers three critical keys to success, along with case studies of successful hospital grant-seeking at the state, federal, and foundation levels.
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the basic five-step funding process;
- Assess where your hospital ranks using the profile of a fundable hospital;
- Identify a staff member to assume the grants manager role using the list of role responsibilities;
- Describe which planned projects or programs have potential fundability using the profile of a fundable project;
- Communicate time, including work, impact to the two staff roles impacted by grant proposal preparation (department heads and grants manager); and
- Identify a grant writer using the grant writer screening guide.
