THA’s Texas Congressional Briefing Activities

The Texas Hospital Association is planning several activities for Texas hospital and health system representatives attending the American Hospital Association’s Annual Membership Meeting, April 10-13 in Washington, D.C. Make the most of your visit to Washington by participating in THA’s events! Events are free, but registration is required.

Among the THA events planned:

  • Exclusive meetings with members of the Texas Congressional Delegation and key committee staff including:
    • U.S. Sen. John Cornyn
    • U.S. Rep. Joe Barton
    • U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess
    • U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith
    • Stephanie Carlton, health policy advisor for the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, Minority Staff  
    • AHA representatives
  • Issue briefings
  • Networking opportunities

How Do I Participate?

  1. First, register for AHA’s Annual Membership Meeting and make your hotel reservation. Complete details and online registration are available on AHA’s website. The registration deadline is April 8 for online registration and discounts are available to those who register by Feb. 25. Hotel reservations must be made by March 25, but attendees are encouraged to book early.
  2. Second, notify THA’s Wendy Thomas (512/465-1044) that you will be attending. In addition, please indicate if you would like Wendy to schedule a visit with your congressional representative or his/her staff. Please also notify THA if you have scheduled a visit on your own. A final schedule of congressional appointments will be provided at the Texas Congressional Briefing, along with background materials on key issues.

Once THA is aware of your plans, additional information will be provided via e-mail.
