Technical Bulletin
March 5, 2009
SUBJECT: Is Your Hospital Prepared to Meet the New Outpatient Reporting Requirements?

BACKGROUND: This year, many Texas hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers must begin reporting outpatient data to the Texas Health Care Information Collection. The new requirement applies to a wide range of surgical and radiological outpatient procedures covered by specific revenue codes. While many rural providers are exempt, hundreds of Texas health care facilities are impacted by this new requirement.

The Texas Hospital Association's Patient Data System is here to help. I am pleased to announce that PDS is launching a new service this month, in partnership with Thomson Reuters, to handle the outpatient data reporting requirement for you. Through the proven, trusted resources of PDS, the PDS Outpatient Data Collection® Solution will collect, process and submit your hospital's data to THCIC for you – no hassle and no delays. Best of all, PDS has negotiated a savings of $1,000 off the standard Thomson Reuters implementation fee – a  40 percent savings available to Texas hospitals that sign up with this offer.

For those hospitals interested in detailed report analysis, PDS offers the Market Expert® State Data Analyst as an optional add-on.
