THA History

In 1930, the Texas Hospital Association was begun by a handful of hospital administrators who recognized the value of working together to provide superior health care. Today, THA is one of the largest, most respected health care associations in the country, and serves as the political and educational advocate for more than 430 hospitals and health systems across the state.

Diamond Anniversary - THA Celebrates 75 Years
Retrospective article from commemorative issue of Texas Hospitals magazine (PDF)

Proclamation from Governor Rick Perry Commemorating the Texas Hospital Association's 75th Anniversary

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, THA produced "75 Years of Caring," an informative, inspiring look at how hospitals have improved the health of Texans. The video portrays just how important hospitals are to the quality of life we enjoy. Hospitals are the entities people turn to in times of disaster — natural or man-made. This role is just as relevant today as it was 75 years ago, as recent hurricanes and preparations for potential bioterrorism attacks have demonstrated.

The video was shown at THA's 75th Anniversary Celebration, and DVDs were sent to members. If you need additional copies of the DVD, please contact THA's Corporate Communications Department at 512/465-1050.
